ARTICLE - MOTIVATE, RECOGNISE AND REWARD STAFF

Use Promotional Products to engage staff, motivate, recognise, reward ... and keep

Make the most of branded promotional products by including them in your HR plans. Large or small organisations can include these 8 easy ideas :

1. Welcome Kit for New Employees - It is always daunting when you are the 'new kid on the block'. Develop a welcome kit with a letter of welcome, list of key contacts, faq sheet ... and a few personal items such as branded water bottle, promotional tin of mints and stationery items (promotional pens).

2. Monthly Award - Include a regular award for an employee who has contributed to the business during a given month (it is important to have clear guidelines of how this will be determined)

3. Training - Reinforce important messages and policies using a branded item (e.g. mouse mat, USB stick)

4. Newsletter or Intranet - Include a competition to engage staff. Incorporate a prize for submissions or ideas that are incorporated into policy.

5. Staff Uniform - provide a branded shirt, polo or hat that can be used by staff as part of the day to day wear and for promotional appearances. Branded apparel lifts profile and saves employees the cost of purchasing daily workwear.

6. Recognition of Birthday, Milestones and Special Event - Recognise employment and company milestones, personal events like birthdays and special days. Offer a memento of a special occasion or milestone ... and provide thank you treats and appreciation gifts at festive times such as Easter and Christmas.

7. Incentive - Include a structured incentive programme with clear objectives and rules of achievement. Use promotional products as 'teasers' throughout the incentive period, to build excitement, reinforce the incentive goals and the reward.

8. Fun - Incorporate fun and camaraderie into the working day. For example, create a theme day on a Friday. Get staff involved in planning, allow themed dress or a certain colour, provide morning or afternoon tea, include competitions with branded prizes.
